Between environmental crisis and magical beauty: plastic is flooding our world – but what happens when dancers bring this everyday material to life? Inspired by Mark Sieczkarek’s visionary work "The Tower", nine international artists transform the stage into a fascinating cosmos of movement and recycled elements.

Ten years after its creation, the performance has taken on an unsettling relevance in its revised form: in the wake of the failed UN plastics conference, the artistic vision has become a painful reality. Yet “Plastic” offered more than just environmental statements – it became a poetic interplay of materials, bodies and sounds, accompanied by live music (trumpet: Karlo Wentzel, percussion: André Füsser).

The subsequent discussion with the performers was moderated by Anja Arend, a dance and music scholar based at the Folkwang University.
