In an abandoned industrial hall, Pina Bausch dancers Malou Airaudo and Dominique Mercy unfolded a fascinating interplay between closeness and distance, between the everyday and the magical. Dressed in curious costumes, they transformed their decades-long partnership on stage into a poetic chamber piece about the secrets of human relationships – whimsical, profound and full of surprising humour. Mark Sieczkarek’s dance film captures the two exceptional artists in a new, intimate light and makes palpable the incomparable chemistry that has bound them since the early days of Tanztheater Wuppertal.
